be supposed + 动词不定式
be supposed + 动词不定式 有两种用法：
A. 动词 suppose 的被动语态，后接动词不定式主语补足语。基本意思是：“被认为”、“被期
望”，“被预料”。
例句：
These batteries are supposed to last for a year.
这些电池能用一年。
Cats are supposed to have nine lives.
猫有九条命。
The train is supposed to arrive in half an hour.
火车预计半小时内到达。
This cream is supposed to help nourish your skin.
这种面霜有助于滋养你的皮肤。
B. be supposed + 动词不定式 构成复合谓语，表示“应该……”、“理应当”，相当于情态动词
should 的用法，可表示劝告，提醒、建议、义务、责任等含义。
例句：
Every passenger is supposed to wear a seat-belt.
每个人坐在汽车里都应该系上安全带。
Every pupil is supposed to be in his classroom at 8 a.m.
每个学生都应当在上午8点在教室里。
Judges are supposed to judge each case objectively.
法官应该客观地审判每一个案件。
Don't spill the beans. It is supposed to be a secret.
别说漏了嘴，这可是个秘密哦。
The steamer is supposed to be your port in ten days.
货轮将在十天内到达你方港口。
This meeting, and the entire arrangement, are supposed to be confidential.
这次会议和整个安排都应该保密。
I must get a well-round education, which good colleges and universities are
supposed to provide.
我必须接受全面的教育，这是好的学院和大学应该提供的。
这一结构常用否定句，即：be not supposed to do sth.、 表示“不应该”。
例句：
You should not be curious about what your are not supposed to know.
不该你知道的事你不要去打听。
It is still a secret. You are not supposed to give it away to anybody.
这仍然是个秘密，你一定不能泄露给任何人。
Never earn money that you are supposed to.
不该挣的钱千万别挣。
She was not supposed to be angry about that.
她本不该为那件事而生气的。
You are not supposed to smoke on the bus.
你不应该在公共汽车上吸烟。
● 当 be supposed to do sth. 的主语是“物”时，它表示“本应”、“本该”，指某事本应该发
生而实际上没有发生。
例句：
The train was supposed to arrive half an hour ago.
火车本应在半小时之前到达。
We thought this car was supposed to be a good buy.
我们原来想这种车一定很便宜。
There's supposed to be a light on that landing where you are!
在你站着的地方，应该有个灯在那里！
The meeting was supposed to take place On Tuesday, but we have to put it off.
这次会议本应该在周二举行，但我们不得不把它推迟了。
● 当 be supposed 后面接动词不定式的完成时态，即 be supposed to have + 过去分词
时, 也可表示“本应该做某事而没做”。
例句：
You are supposed to have handed in your homework by now.
现在你应该已经把作业交上来了。 （实际上没有交上来）
He is supposed to have arrived an hour ago.
他应该一小时前就到了。 （实际上现在还没有到）
You are supposed to have given him some support, however much you disagreed
with him on the matter.
你本应该给他一些支持，尽管在这件事上你不同意他的看法。 （实际上没有给）
