    海南奥赛单招指南：

    表示“放弃”、“抛弃”、“遗弃”的动词

    abandon、giveup、discard、desert、relinquish、waive、forsake这几个词都含

    “放弃”、“抛弃”、“遗弃”的意思。

    abandon普通用词，指因为无能为力、心理疲倦或情绪失望而“放弃”、“抛弃”，含永远

    彻底放弃的意味。也可指中途“放弃”、“中止”活动和工作，或放弃想法或思路。

    例句：

    Seeingtheshipwasabouttosink,thesailorshadcoulddonothingbuttoabandonit.

    眼看到船要沉，水手们只能弃船。

    Thecruelmanabandonedhiswifeandchild.

    那个狠心的男人抛弃了他的妻儿

    Wewillneverabandonourrightswedeservebylaw

    discard指丢弃无用的东西，也可指抛弃信仰、观念等。

    desert多指违背法律、道义、义务、责任而“抛弃、离弃（某人）”，也可用于表示“离弃”、

    “舍弃”或“放弃”某地或某物。

    他抛弃了妻子和孩子，带走所有的钱。

    例句：
